Get to Know Tommi Harris

I have had an interest in the stock market from a very young age, and that interest manifested into a career. My focus at the beginning was more on the mechanics of how markets operate efficiently and monetary economics. Today, my focus is in behavioral economics, specifically, behavioral finance. When advising individuals and families, I seek to understand what drives them personally and what is their relationship with money. It is through open dialog that I am able to provide advice on all topics related to their money. I guide them along the way to make better financial decisions and I invest in them so they may have the opportunity to experience growth in all aspects of their financial life, like I have had. My focus is to be more mindful, enhance the client experience, have deep and meaningful client relationships, and for clients to experience better financial wellbeing.

For over 15 years, I have guided individuals and families on their financial aspirations, managed their investment portfolios, net worth and improved their financial outcomes. One client in particular that had a positive impact on me early on in my career, was someone that had amassed a great deal of wealth on her own.

She worked hard to establish financial wealth and didn’t want to leave her estate to any one individual. Instead, she wanted to leave it to a charity, focused on helping young women with higher education. After she was able to articulate her financial dreams, and her vision of creating a lasting legacy, I helped her establish and manage a family charitable giving fund with the charity of her choice. Her need to contribute was met, with knowing that her wealth would potentially help others. I found joy providing her with the guidance and structure to make her gift lasting.

At Verde Capital Management, I led the Investment Committee from 2015 to 2022; during this time I helped develop the research schedule and methodology with my fellow team members. The committee is responsible for asset allocation, research, and the selection of specific securities within our client portfolios. While I no longer lead the committee, I am still a member and enjoy participating in our quarterly meetings.

Outside of finance, I am a mother, wife and lover of the arts. My husband and our fun-loving daughters, as well as my extended family hold the highest importance in my life. As an active family, we spend a great deal of time outdoors: running, boating, skiing and hiking.
