My journey into finance is a meandering one, like any good story! Growing up, I enjoyed mathematics and biology and knew I wanted to pursue a career in the natural sciences. I graduated from Hope College in Holland, MI with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and neuroscience and then earned a Master of Science from Georgetown University in Washington, DC where I studied systems medicine with an emphasis in biostatistics. My research ranged from studying the biochemical mechanisms that control mitochondrial function to creating quantitative models that assessed social determinants of metastatic breast cancer.
My professional career began as a biostatistician for the Department of Public Health and Psychiatry at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. Our research focused on mental health and substance use interventions in vulnerable populations (i.e. adolescence, perinatal, justice-involved). During this time, I took an interest in the economic decisions and funding restraints that profoundly impact academic medical research.
As my personal interest in economics grew, I saw an opportunity to meld my analytical skills and behavioral science background to become a fiduciary advisor. The philosophy of behavioral finance and its implication for our health and wellbeing is one of the many reasons I am happy to practice here at Verde.
Here at Verde, I am a trusted fiduciary to corporations, institutions and individuals. I provide personalized care for each of my clients, whether you are starting a new business, scaling a current one or looking to provide a purpose-centered plan for your family’s future; I want you to live a life that excites you and helps you fulfill your life’s mission.
